We are often asked by patients for their GP to make a home visit. GPs will visit housebound patients for clinical problems. We would like to respectfully ask patients to remember that a GP cannot visit for social reasons e.g. no transport, when a taxi can be called to get to the surgery.
Where possible, please call before 11:00 so that the GP can schedule the visit. Normally home visit requests are assessed by the doctor prior to the visit by telephone. Please make sure you are available to take this call. It is frustrating for the doctors to attend for a home visit to find nobody is home.
