When the surgery is closed you can access urgent primary care by calling NHS 111 free of charge from all phones.
The Gloucester Health Access Centre (GHAC)
This is a health centre set up by a group of clinicians from local surgeries who are committed to improving access and increasing the range of health promotion and medical services in the area. You do not need to be registered as a patient to use this service. They offer advice, assessment and treatment for minor ailments and injuries such as cuts, bruises, minor infections, strains and skin complaints. They are open every day of the year, including Sundays and Bank Holidays, from 08:00 – 20:00. The centres are located in Eastgate House, Eastgate Street, Gloucester & at Matson Lane Surgery, Gloucester. You are able to pre-book an appointment to see a doctor or nurse by telephoning 01452 336290.
A & E Departments assess and treat patients with serious injuries or illnesses. Generally you should visit A & E or call 999 for life threatening emergencies, such as:
- Loss of consciousness
- Fits that are not stopping
- Persistent, severe chest pain
- Breathing difficulties
- Severe Eye Pain or Injury
- Suspected Fractures
- Severe bleeding that cannot be stopped
